Apple unveils iOS 13 at the WWDC with lots of cool new features.you can check out 201+ features of iOS 13. One of the most underrated features is optimized battery charging. The first thing that I want you to know is that it is available to all the iPhones that support iOS 13, starting from iPhone SE to iPhone 11 Pro Max

What does it do?

Most of the users charge their iPhones overnight but it is not a good idea to charge the lithium-ion batteries for the whole night. It damages the battery and produces excess heat.

Once the phone gets 100%, it activates trickle charge to keep the phone at maximum charge while connected to the charger.

This will damage the battery in slow span and seeks for a battery replacement. To prevent this, apple introduced “Optimized Battery Charging”

How does it work?

Apple’s official description to the feature

“To reduce battery aging, iPhone learns from your daily charging routine so it can wait to finish charging past 80% until you need to use it.“

For example:

You usually go to bed and wake up at the same time, depending on your daily schedule. Let’s say, you go to bed at 9 and wake up at 6. So you will probably plug-in your iPhone to the charger at 9. Till you wake up and unplug, the phone will remain connected to the charger even though it completes the full charge in 2-3 hours based on your device.

When you enable “Optimized Battery Charging”, the iPhone learns your daily pattern of charging and optimize the charging according to it.

IOS stops the phone from charging when it reaches 80%. But will resume it before the user usually unplugs the phone from the charger. In our case, the user unplugs the phone at 6 so it will be resumed before 30 mins or 40 mins or depends on the device to complete the charge at 6.
